The Monthly Meetings
What happens at the meeting?
We try to keep the meetings as informal as possible but there is a certain formality to most WI meetings.
The hall is open 30 minutes before the meeting is begun at 7.30 pm with a small amount of business. This usually takes at the most 15 minutes. Then we have a speaker or demonstrator, who talks for 45 min to one hour. After that it is time for a cup of tea/coffee and time to catch up with friends. This is also the time to put your name down for events organised by the Nottinghamshire Federation (and to pay for them) if you have not had time to do so before the meeting started.
As well as listening to the speaker there is the competition to look at and judge. To call it 'a competition' makes it sound very formal since most months it is a case of remembering to bring an item to fit in with the theme of the speaker. There is also a 'Bring & Buy' bookstall where you can pick up good books for 50p. This is often the first stop for many members.
You can check out what activities we are planning over the coming months on the 2017 Programme page.
